CLUB OVERVIEW

Below we've got some information on the club.

Training sessions

The club currently trains on three days each week. New members to the club will be allocated to a beginner’s group and may then move groups depending on experience and coaching qualification requirements. We have no minimum standard required to join the club. Each member is allocated their own coach during the session, each trampoline is typically capped at 5 people.

Club members decide the level to which they wish to aspire to and the amount of training is set accordingly. Regional grade competitors are encouraged to train on the trampoline at least twice a week, and condition at home at least twice a week.

Funding

We are a private, not for profit, trampoline club and we hire space from the Vale of Glamorgan Council. We buy and maintain our own equipment and your training fees are set to cover these costs. All participating members are also required to be members of British and Welsh Gymnastics. This provides insurance in addition to access to wider opportunities, such as competitions and squad pathways.

Communication

Information is regularly distributed via email which gives information on competitions and forthcoming events. Competition information is distributed by the club and typically available on the Welsh or British Gymnastics websites. We endeavour to give you as much notice as possible for competition entry. Coaches are happy to talk to parents / guardians and we request that you either talk to the coach once they have finished the session or arrange a convenient time to telephone them.

The Role of the Parent / Guardian

It is the responsibility of the parent to ensure their child’s fitness to attend training. If your child suffers from any illness or physical condition which may affect their training, please tell their coach. We request that children which have not attended school owing to ill health are not permitted to attend training on the same day.

We encourage members to be self-motivated and to train and compete not for their coach or parents but for themselves. We ask you to observe that competition and training is developmental, and our competitors soon learn the extreme feelings of disappointment as well as elation from success. As a parent / guardian, you are asked to observe and abide by (on behalf of your child) the club rules.

Further opportunities to get involved

There are many opportunities to get involved with Caerau Vale. Depending on the amount of time you have, the club would happily support anyone who would like to:

  • become a committee member.

  • become a judge.

  • help at competitions.

  • help out at club events.

If you want to get involved, just ask one of the current volunteers for some more information.

Our Aims and Objectives.

Caerau Vale Trampoline Club’s aim is to educate members in all aspects of trampolining gymnastics. This will enable members to fulfil their potential. We aim to achieve this by:

Education

Our coaches are encouraged to educate their pupils on the mechanical principles whilst training to deepen the performers understanding. Club members are encouraged to attend appropriate judging and coaching courses through which their knowledge and technique is expanded.

Personal development and fulfilment of potential

All coaches strive to support and develop all club members to fulfil their potential.

Competitions

We offer all club members the opportunity to compete at competitions, if they would like to! Regional and National competitions are organised by Welsh Gymnastics a year, information on all their events can be found on the Welsh Gymnastics website.

Structure of sessions

At all recreational sessions, we use the British Gymnastics proficiency awards scheme. Awards vary from tuck jumps to front and back somersaults and also introduce routines and linking moves. Competitors also have routines and links that will help them develop for the competition.
